MYRSKYVUORI
CASE STORIES
I’m a UX designer passionate about making complex medical technology more intuitive. With a background in EHR usability and a current focus on high-precision medical devices, I thrive on transforming technical challenges into clear, user-centered solutions. Whether working independently or closely with developers, my mission is to design healthcare tools that support professionals, not overwhelm them.
Designing a New Feature and Initiating a Design System (Nexstim)
Role: UX Designer / Project Specialist
Duration: Oct 2025 - May 2025
Environment: Nexstim’s nTMS device (navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation), collaboration with VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland), product owners, and the development team
Tools: Figma, Adobe XD (previously), Confluence, CisSpace, Nexstim’s hardware
I designed the user interface for a new feature in Nexstim’s nTMS medical device as part of a broader development initiative. The aim of the first phase was to deliver a clear and simple implementation with potential for future expansion.
At the start of the project, UI components had been created using Adobe XD by an external design agency. Their work provided a foundation for the design, but during implementation, certain challenges emerged: for instance, some icons were PNG-based and inconsistent in scale, and pixel-level precision did not always meet development needs. Based on these findings, I advocated for a transition to Figma and initiated the creation of a new design system that would better support usability and technical implementation.
Using a prototype provided by VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland), I created the first Figma-based interface prototypes. The design evolved iteratively in close cooperation with product owners, with many aspects being revised and redefined during the process. I also worked closely with the software architect to understand technical constraints and propose solutions to reduce both implementation friction and cognitive load for end users. In addition, discussions with testers provided valuable usability insights.
Due to the ongoing and confidential nature of the project, I cannot share visual materials. However, the project serves as a strong example of independent and solution-focused UX design within high-precision medical technology.
